I was working with one of my clients who I was able to help directly with a quality program that saved her about 25% from the original plan. Unfortunately, I was unable to cover one child. This child stayed on the original plan, which recently took a major price increase.

The Houston Chronicle went on to report: “Using a former employee as a snitch, the FBI said it learned Umawa Imo had set up a physical therapy clinic called City Nursing.

The snitch said patients were paid to come in.

Once there, some allegedly signed as many as 45 visit forms each, in order to fraudulently bill the government’s health insurance programs.

The FBI said some patients even got hush-money to not to report the fraud.

In all, the government said Imo and several co-conspirators bilked the government for some $30 million.

Where’d the money allegedly go?

The government said it went, in part, to buy Imo’s house in Cinco Ranch.”

Medicare and Medicaid still need a fix in terms of reporting and diligence in uncovering and prosecuting fraud. Electronic systems in place will help solve part of the problem. Other target measures are necessary though!

We remember the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi saying “We won’t know what is in it until we pass it!” … Well that seems to be very true now!

The more we read the more we find out. We all knew that there would be over 100 additional agencies and 16,000 IRS agents added to the already over-infated government budget! And, now we really are finding out that health care costs are sure to go UP, insurance premiums are sure to go UP, and medicare services will go DOWN.

The legislation will prevent people from all of the natural adjustments you would expect in the face of rising premiums.  For example:

• They will not be allowed to scale back insurance or choose more limited coverage.
• They won’t be allowed to shift to catastrophic-only plans or rely more on cost-saving self-insurance through Health Savings Accounts.

We won’t have to wait years to begin feeling the pain of Obamacare, says Goodman:

• The 10 percent tax on tanning salons starts this year.
• Beginning in 2011 our drug bills will rise because of a $2.5 billion tax on name-brand drugs and removal of the tax exemption for over-the-counter drugs purchased using a Flexible Spending Account.
• The penalty for nonmedical Health Savings Account (HSA) distributions will also double.

Seniors will begin losing benefits as a result of cuts in the Medicare program, says Goodman:

• The average Medicare Advantage Plan enrollee will lose nearly $200 in benefits in 2011–rising by a dozen times that amount ($2,437) by 2019.
• Seniors in traditional Medicare plans will lose only $22 in 2011, but this will rise to $1,137 by 2019.
